So, interesting fact…

And now let’s move into our first segment… Healthy Conversations…

Healthy ConversationsWhat Is The Internet Doing To Boomers’ Brains?

What The Heck Is The Internet Doing To Boomers’ Brains?

And for the youngins that probably don’t know what the word “BOOMERS” means… I’m talking about anyone born in the Post World War 2 years of 1946 through 1964…

And the answer is YES… I had to Google that date range because I don’t know that off the top of my head but here’s a story for you…

I heard a story the other day about this guy named John…
A 38-yo executive at a think tank… and his 67yo father and how they can barely have a conversation these days without an argument erupting.

In fact, the last time they spoke, his father accused him of working for a company that supports human trafficking.

Naturally, this something that concerned John a whole lot…
And as he saw his father’s FaceBook feed fill up with posts from Fox News and Breitbart, then more radical websites like Gateway Pundit and Russia Today… this is when he realized something… his father trusted what he was finding in these Facebook groups more than he trusted his own son.

This is scary because as you know, older americans… older adults are becoming more and more dependent on the internet for their news information and social media… kinda… fans the flames, if you know what I mean…

They’re reading and sharing all sorts of things online that they’re blindly believing as fact without even batting an eyelash…

And part of the reason why experts think this is happening, and it’s the most obvious explanation… is their aging brain.

There’s tons of research that proves that older Americans are more susceptible to financial scams due to things like lower impulse control, slower cognitive function, higher rates of social isolation.

Think about it… when you reach a certain age, it’s a lot harder to control your impulses, you see it with older people who simply say exactly what’s on their mind whereas possibly in the past, they would not have voiced their opinion just like that… in the open.

As far as their brain or cognitive function, those reflexes aren’t as quick as they used to be. And don’t get me started on the whole social isolation thing.

I think my parents are having a field day with these COVID social distancing and isolation rules.

But in the case of John and his father… John says his father’s slowing mental abilities was a result of his decades of alcohol and opioid use… I guess that can be whole-nutha topic for a different day.

But here’s the reason I bring this up…

This is A THING, you guys… it’s something we’re all going to deal with at some point or another…

We’ll either experience it ourselves or with our own parents and so we need to keep this in mind so we can prepare for it now!

Mighty ManThe signs of High Testosterone

As you know… Testosterone (or “T” for short) is an essential sex hormone that’s mostly known for stimulating puberty and the development of body and facial hair growth in men.

So there was a time when I felt that my T levels were high or if anything a little off balanced… I was having some of the typical signs of high T like unexplained acne and also strange mood swings that came from out of the blue… So I did what I do best and started researching the internet and consulting with professionals and here’s a few things that I learned along the way.

Not only does testosterone stimulate puberty and the development of facial hair, but did you know that… T is also involved in numerous processes around the body, including the maintenance of bone and muscle mass and also the storage of body fat.

Some people don’t realize that SINCE Testosterone is simply another hormone…
…people can easily have hormonal imbalances which can include deficiencies in the production of Testosterone.

So some of the warning signs of low testosterone in men would be (like I mentioned in my case, earlier) Acne. Acne pimples may be a sign of high T when there is no other obvious cause for the acne, like excessive sweating from working out or prolonged usage of a face mask.

Also, changes in your blood pressure, including high blood pressure (hypertension) and low blood pressure (hypotension), can lead to things like dizziness, headaches, fatigue, nausea, and even fainting.

For me, I was feeling the headaches and fatigue mostly. Or what I thought I was feeling at the time… because as it turns out, I didn’t have Low T thankfully but it’s always good to know about these things so you at least know what to look for and what to address when talking to your doctor.

Another biggie that gets a lot of us men in the “Must be over 40 club” are changes in your sexual health. This can be like… trouble getting or keeping an erection, a reduced desire to have sex, and a lower than normal sperm count.

Have I got your attention yet? Hahaha!

You might also see changes in your head and body hair, such as excessive body hair growth and (what they call) early male pattern balding on your head.

You could also experience changes in your mood like irritability, anxiety, or depression.

If you’re like me then right now you’re probably thinking all of this sounds terrible and the reality is that… it is terrible!

But that’s part of the reason why I’m bringing it out to light here… so that we’re aware of it and should you be experiencing similar things, you can address it accordingly with our primary physician.

Because that’s the name of the game… it’s prevention by being proactive with your health.

Now treatment for high or low “T” levels depends on the cause and since there are so many other root causes that I haven’t gone over here, I’ll give the one “treatment” that’s more or less recommended in almost all cases and it’s this…

Getting regular exercise and eating a diet of whole, nutrient-dense foods can help you naturally boost T levels. This can also help you lose excess weight caused by T imbalances and get more of the nutrients you need to support T production in your body.
